Opinions Will Be Appreciated.

I couldn't be doing this if it wasn't for everybody here. I think that I have reached determinations on my build. Time for the 640 to go and time to move on. This is going to be my baby for the next couple of years, so any obversations and opinions are welcome. I'll be 50 next month. Some guys go out and buy a Corvette. I'm going to build a PC and just stick with an old Nissan!

* Intel C2D E 6600

* ASUS P5WDH Deluxe-wf

* 2 Gigs Corsair XMS (4 x 512) (Me? Corsair ?)

* Sapphire X1900XTX

* PCPC Silencer 610 PSU

* Seagate Barracuda 250 Gig SATA HD

* Creative Labs Sound Blaster (have one, not sure which-might as well use it.)

* LIAN LI 6070B+ case (not definite)

* 19" DELL US Monitor (have already)

Will it go? With XP Pro of course.

1. Congrats

2. Everything looks great. I like that power supply, too. However, I suggest just 2x1gb sticks.

The PC P&C seems overkill...however, you won't go wrong with it

Concurred on the 2 sticks of RAM...might want the option to add more down the road (ie, if you upgrade to Vista...over 2 gigs isn't really an option with XP)

Awesome build and great choice on the psu. Just gotta love that beefy single rail.

I'm breakin' out in goosebumps. I (literally) examined every C2D board. I kept going back to the WiFi. I was down to that and the BadAxe. I almost flipped a coin. The deciding factor was the core voltage issue that I had with the 6300 build, with the Intel board that I used. Last but not least, it's just a d--n pretty motherboard!
Blue, I apologize. I said the same thing to you (not too long ago) about beefy PSUs. I almost went with another Silencer 470. It dawned on me that some of the future grapphix cards will probably require some more PSU balls, so we should think beefy PSUs. We may feel like trying another one out someday. Plus, you can't hear those Silencers. Except for the PC being on, you never know that they are there. I'm using two 1GB kits because I don't like empty RAM slots and (believe me) 2 Gigs is a lot of firepower. I'm not building a server. Ya know?
Gotta get the 640 sold and hopefully I can deliver the 6300 this week!

You may not like empty ram slots, but there are quite a few boards out there that don't run 4 sticks of ram at full potential.

Live and learn. Maybe the WiFi isn't one of them. "We shall see," said the blind man.
