New build, some problems.
Hi all , thanks for your help in the past.
I'm building a computer for my son, Med gaming, here is what I have. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129155 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131569 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103531 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822144414 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102019 I have some Talent 1k RAM(known good) that I had in another box, Heres the Problem, all in the box and nothing on the monitor, good monitor, I use it on this comp, Mobo has steady light but no beeps. All the Fans are spinning including vidio card. Took Hals advice and set up out of the box. Still nothing on the Monitor. I read some reviews on Newegg, one guy said the Asus guide was not right about the Ram placement, so I switched it back and forth with no results. I'm thinking the mobo or the Vid card are doa, unfortunatly I don't have another pci 16 card to check. Any thoughts, suggestions? |

More than likely, it's the motherboard. That's a first-class video card. I've used 4 and have never had a problem, whatsoever.

Grin: Did you have to case PC speaker connected to the motherboard when you tried to power it up? Try pulling to RAM off the motherboard and try to power up. You should get BIOS error beeps indicating there is no RAM. If you don't get a response then you may be looking at a defective motherboard...but you should try another power supply first. I've been hearing of others who are using the Sonata II case and the power supply in it was DOA or defective. Cricket

Thanks for the replies. I actually had the wiring all screwed, I forgot the 4 pin connector to the mobo,my last build didn't have one,and the mobo documents are not real specific.
It turns out the dude who reviewed the Mobo was right on about the RAM. The guide says put it in B1 slot and it needed to be in A1 slot. When I straitened it out everything went off without a hitch. Posted fine, Installed a newegg oem ver of winxp. Up and running ![]() - Grin |
