Want a parts list

I am trying to build a system and I had asked a while ago for a good parts list but I have lost it and that was over a year ago also so I am trying to get a updated great shopping list again. I want a system that is pretty fast. I want to be able to download my moives from my camera to DVD's. I want to do some gaming. I am not going to add the color laser printer right now but I want to build the system so that it will handle one later. I do need everything but the case. I am a little flexible with my budget because I can buy this a few pieces at a time. But I would like to keep this under $1,000 if possible and still have a fairly good system. I have a lap top I use right now so this system is going to be a second system to me but I really want a pretty good one so if my lap top breaks which I have broke 3 before this I have a good system to fall back on and a system to do my DVD editing with.

I have a sister-in-law who used to work at Intel so of course I have heard all the hype about great Intel is but I am not really set on that and I would love some recommendations on which one would perform the best and be the best value for my dollars.

I took a class one time in PC repair and we were given all the parts and taught how to put a computer back together so I am comfortable building the system but the class didn't give us any information on making decisions on what parts to buy and computer systems are obsolete almost before you finish building them.

PC Power & Cooling Silencer 470 PSU

Monitor and case of your choosing. A lot of you image editing will be related to your particular camera and printer software.

Thank you very much for the help. There is so many parts out there that it is hard to decided which ones are best sometimes.
