OEM Motherboard
I know OEM parts from newegg don't come with accesories, but I already have pretty much all the cables required. I just don't know if I should buy an OEM motherboard, I would save about $100, but would the whole backplate (forget what it's called) be messed up because it doesn't come with one if I bought an oem mobo? Or would I have to buy one separately for my new build?

$100 off for an OEM motherboard? That doesn't sound quite right. Are you sure what you're looking at isn't open box? Either way, I'm not a big fan of OEM motherboards. You're missing not only the I/O shield (back plate), but also all the stand-offs and screws. Unless you have a collection of that stuff from other builds or knew where to find all those odds and ends, a retail board would just be easier.

Oh yea, oops, it was open box, not oem. Oh well, but I do have the screws and standoffs. Still not totally sure about it. And it's not $100 dollars off, gosh, all these tiny differences in serial numbers! Anyways, if anyone wants to see, here it is http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...2E16813131534R

Open box deals could be missing everything to being a complete retail kit. Luck of the draw when buying open box.

Motherboards do not come with standoffs and screws - cases do.
Your link is a whole page of open box boards - which one in particular are you looking at? |
