You will just need keyboard, mouse and monitor.. If you have existing monitor, speaker, and keyboard mouse than your all set.

AGP is a dead end for upgrades. I'd get a P5L-MX board and some DDR2 ram and use the onboard video till you want to drop some bucks on a decent PCI-E video card.

Unless I missed a link, I didn't see a hard drive in that list. What are your plans towards that? Are you going to use the in case PSU?

Antec Sonata II is a great case, I own one.
An Asus P5L series of some sort would be good. Stick with the 945P chipset. Pentium D 805 is an excellent choice. For a video card I recommend something like this (or ATI equivelant): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130052 Search Newegg and see what you like and what is in your price range. Then give us some links and I'd be more than happy to tell you my thoughts.

This would be a good card too if you can afford it:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814143049 That should blow through the game you want to play. Also you can get a 7600gs for a bit cheaper. But, however, I think the 7300gt is still enough power for what you want. Last edited by newbuilder14; 10-14-2006 at 11:41 AM. |

You've got a lot more flexibilty with a grand. You can lean toward an E 6300 build if you want.

You don't have to go that far - a plain P5B and a E6300 is fine. DDR2-667 value ram is good enough if you don't plan on overclocking - I prefer Corsair. I'd go for a decent low to midrange video card like a 7600GT, this is the best gaming card in its price range.

Thanks GLC after i posted the message about the 6400 i came to the same conclusion about the p5b and e 6300. the 7600 gt should be plenty for what I need. Could you tell me what power supply to get that should let me start getting the parts on the way thanks again

I think the 450w Fortron Source should be enough. It's at Newegg for <$50
