Need Some Help To Plan My 1st Rig!

Well hello everyone..

Its coming close to my birthday. For which im going to get some money.
So im planing to build a medium gaming rig..

I would like you guys to help me plan this because im not too good at choosing hardware.

INTEL OR AMD? SINGLE CORE OR DOUBLE CORE? I need help choosing it all.

Im going to go for the Super Lanboy case because i want to instal some leds to make it look cool in the dark.

I want this rig to be about 1000€
Including ( Case, cpu, psu, mobo, vid card, sound card, hdd, ram(1gb), and water cooling)

The prices shold be about:
CPU: 180€~
MoBo: 140€~ (ATX)
Ram: 140€~
Vidcard: 140€~
PSU: 60€~
HDD: 90€~
Water Cooling: 100€~
The case will cost: 90€~
And then the floppy and cd/dvd: 40€~

This all summs up to about 990€~

Please try not to go over the prices i mentioned.

Thank You in advance..
Btw i live in Finland. And the prices here are in € and the components are abit more expensive.

Unless you plan to OC, could drop the watercooling and spend that money towards better video card/CPU. Same with the sound card, try on-board first.

Can you link us to an online vendor in your country that has an English website so we can see how much stuff costs there?

I dont want to fry my 1st pc so id rather drop the OC and go with what i can get.
So i gues your right. If you think that the stock cpu fan will do.

Is there anything i can drop on? Cause i was thinking to go for the E6400 cpu. Maybe a cheaper psu and a smaller/cheaper hd. Or the vid card.

Honestly all the parts Alaron gave you are right on. No need for the e6400. You don't need it/won't notice a difference unless you need the 8x multiplier for OC'ing.

I looked through all the power supplies there - once I figured out what "power supply" was in Finnish - and you can't save significantly without seriously compromising quality and capacity for strong video cards.

Floppy does not connect to IDE, it uses its own 34 pin connector.

The way I see Core 2 Duo, the upgrade from E6300 to E6400 is just not worth it - but the E6600 is a different story, it's got twice the cache.

LED's should probably be connected to some kind of lighting bus running directly from the power supply. You can probably get some good help there in the case modding forum.

You can save a little with a 250gb 7200.10 16mb cache - it's 87 euro.
