Well if you want the very top of the line you should go with an Intel build. Currently nothing that AMD makes can compare to the Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800. Also if you want the best graphic performence your best bet would be to go with ATI as there is a lack of Conroe SLI motherboards.

Motherboard: ASUS CROSSHAIR Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard= $240.00

Processer: AMD Athlon 64 FX-62 Windsor 2.8GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Dual Core Processor= $811.00

Memory: CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory= $353.00

Video Cards: eVGA 01G-P2-N592-AX Geforce 7950GX2 1GB 512-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Dual GPU Video Card(x2) = $1,000

Power Supply: Thermaltake toughpower W0117RU ATX12V/ EPS12V 750W Power Supply 100 - 240 V CE, CB, TUV, FCC, UL, CUL, and BSMI certified= $190.00

Sound Card : go with 786ARS's recommendation = $86.00 (after Rebate)

Hard Drives : Western Digital Raptor X WD1500AHFD 150GB 10,000 RPM 16MB Cache Serial ATA150 Hard Drive (x2) ( in Raid 0) = $460.00
(im not exactly how much you mean by "tons and tons" but these are some of the fastest Hds out there) if you need more then 300GB then i would reccomend getting some diffrent 500GB hds instead.

DVD/CD Reading Drive: LITE-ON Black 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-ROM ATAPI/E-IDE DVD-ROM Drive Model SHD-16P1S = $19.00

DVD/CD Writing Drive: go with 786ARS's recommendation= $32.00

(Two Drive So you can burn dvds/cds without writing it to HD first)

Case and Fans: i cant really choose this for you, cases are usually picked more for looks and everyone likes diffrent things but DO NOT choose a crappy case just be casue it has pretty lights and such. choose a quality well build case then add that stuff later. this is MY favorite case but that dosent mean its yours if you see what im getting at.

Moniter: Dell 30" UltraSharp Wide Screen Moniter =About $1550 with cable

Total Without Case = $4741.00

i decided to go with the thermaltake amor lcs and it has 10 5.2 drive slot.
i want alot of memory spce at least 1000gb. what do u suggest.

p.s. what do u suggest for coolers decration inside the pc and what kind of gadget are out here that i can make my pc look awesome
and what is so great about the lite on black dvd drive.

Western Digital Caviar RE2 WD5000YS 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive (x2)= $370.00 (in Raid 0) btw if you dont know what RAID is click here

New Total without case = $4651.00

about the case lights...
i use like 4 of these.
They are pretty sweet and you can get sound activated ones so when you playing music or somthing they will turn on and off with the beat.

i also have these things which shoot lasers. they have diffrent colors of course but all my stuff is green

there are also fans that have lights on em too.
also, if you want, you could paint the inside of your case with uv paint then get a uv light and it will glow. pretty sweet looking
heres a site with some more lights
about the CD/DVD drivers, Lite-on is arguably the best brand of optical drives out there, even though it is pretty cheap. optical drives usually arnt very expensive anyway unlesss you get something exotic like this (which i do ) it really sweet n all but i kind of regret blowing my money on it. stick with the ones i reccomended

btw that motherboard has alot of lights n crazy stuff. look for yourself here

well for gaming, im pretty sure wireless mice have a very slightly less response time (proboly too small to matter, not sure) but if you have a desk and all id just go with wired, then you dont have to worry about the batteries and stuff. more of a personal preference.

btw ive been choosing all these parts from newegg which is where i recommend you buy them because of the excellent RMA service if something is defective in the first year you can get a replacement or in the first 30 days you decide you dont want it, you can get a complete refund. Also the manufactures of the parts i picked out have very good warranties also. but as far as acsessories go (speakers/ keyboard/ mouse) it dosent really matter wheere you buy. just get what you want. i would just reccomend newegg for the main computer parts since you dont want 2 end of having to throw away a 500 dollar video card or something cuz a smaller website sold it to you for 20$ cheaper but wont replace it

any other questions, feel free to ask. and when you get the parts in the mail i can walk you through putting it together

yeah those are nice. they are only 5.1 though so you wont have 7 channels (Front, Front Right, Front Left, Right, Left, Right Back, Left Back) that your sound card can provide. youl only have 5. but it dosent really matter seriously unless you NEED 7 channels.

yeah windows in coming out with vista in a couple months i think.
1. if you already have a xp key then you can just get it now, then upgrade to vista when it comes out.
2. if you dont, you could buy xp now, 90$ here
then buy vista when it comes out. its not like you dont have the money lol
you wont have to change any of the parts in your computer because of vista, just change the operating system, which is easy.
3. you could wait till vista comes out ( i dont think there is a set date yet)

personally, with 5000 dollars, id just buy xp now n upgrade later. i was like 350$ under budget anyway but up 2 you.
and yeah you can watch tv on your computer with a tv tuner. to tell you the truth, i dont know much about these. i recommend doing some reasearch before buying one.

man, i wish i had a comp like this lol

I'm not sure I'd pay $800 for a FX-62...Intel's $300 Core 2 Duo's have been beating it.

How about a 5000+ X2?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103757

It's $300 less and only .2GHz slower - won't make much of a difference. I know you've got a lot of money to burn, but you don't HAVE to spend it all.

Sweet. Even though I turned into a hardcore AMD fan over the past year, I gotta recommend you go for the Core Duo 2 . And DEFINETLY get 2 Gigs of RAM man, that will totally help.

Other than that, I think the people here have helped you pick your parts.

Good luck man

DO not even use that liquid cooling in the thermaltake LCS. YOU are asking for problems if you do.

Btw has everyone has said. A conroe build half the price will beat it. And quad sli is really inmature.

I also highly suggest you stay away from raid 0.

alright, yeah CD2 is the best right now but its whatever you want. its YOUR computer. if you do go with CD2, then you will need a diffrent motherboard and let me know. if you stick with amd, then get the fx i picked or the 5000 x2 like blue00067 said

and about the quad-sli, yeah its new but with 5000$ to spend, why not? if you rather go with normal sli, then i suggest two of these instead. (x2)= about $740.00 after rebates

btw, since it is your first build. do NOT build it in the case first. build it on a hard ,non conductive surace (wood table) first. you will thank me if one of your parts is defective

btw, new total is $4391, if you go with the cards above. or what it was if you stick with the cards i had before

i think i stick with the firt processor cause it slightly stronger. like i said the top of theline items. i dont really care about the money. if i do have any set back, i just minus the monitor an ddowngrade to a cheaper one.
considering i have a 19 kogi as of now.

what i am aiming for is a fast, powwerful pc that can store tons and tons of data.

p.s. what wrong with the armor lcs.

any pc case u rasther suggest mr farrari.

also what do u think about the nemesis elite or thetai chi lcs.
what a conroe build

The thing about the liquid cooling systems is that most of the time they aren't manufactured with reliability and at times leak, etc. Not good to trust on your top of the line system. I highly insist that you go with an Intel Core 2 Duo system. The $300 Core 2 Duo is way faster than the FX-62. You can save money so much money not going with the FX-62 and could get 2 top of the line ATI video cards, too!

The best one around would be one that you built yourself... but I really can't say much as I don't have much experience with them. Wait for someone else to suggest one.

Assuming you are going to *legally* download this stuff, I'd like to also make one recommendation:

Get one fast Raptor for your main OS and system files, and then the other HUGE drives for your videos and music and what not.

good idea. cannot use raid if you do this though. it would limit the huge drives to the size of the raptor.

special, CD2 is this fastest processer right now and IS 300$ cheaper. (this is what they ment by conroe) but you specifically said you want AMD anyway so stick with what you want even though i would reccomend (at this pont in time, if you were going to build today) to go with intel because of the reasons stated above by everyone

RAID 0 is a set up for diaster because if one drive fails, the other is useless. Raid 0 strips the data across the two drives, and the theoretical performance boosts to this are minimal.

Sorry, I didn't notice that he mentioned this before.... and since we aren't flaming, I might as state the fact that I probably didn't notice it before because reading t3 hb=aded 733t tree-yare-uld typing gave me a headache. [/joke]

Specialxk, could you please try to improve your spelling and grammar just a little bit. I know I'm not the only one who has trouble understanding. Thanks, Ryan.
