Newbie Build Need Advice from Experts

I have been in the computer industry for a long time but have never bothered to build a pc until now. Instead of posting I want to spend x amount of money and what should I get, I did a lot of research as was seeing what you guys think of this machine.

Background: Want a computer thats an overall really good machine. Not leaning towards one area specifically but an overall a very good computer

Budget: less than $2000 (including 19inch flat panel moniter)

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E660

Motherboard: ASUS P5B Deluxe w/ Wifi Core 2 Duo Supported Socket 775 ATX Motherboard

Graphic Card : ATI Radeon X1900GT

HardDrive: 3x Seagate 320GB SATA-300 Hard Drive (for RAID)

RAM: Kingston Dual Channel HyperX 2048MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz LL Memory (2 x 1024MB)

Thats what I've chosen from my research so far, so I'd love to know what you guys think. Anything specifically better than the products above (for a reasonably similar price)? Anything not compatable?

I have worked out the price of the above items + 19 inch moniter + case + power + fan + dvd drive and it works out just under $2000 so nothing majorally diffrent in price I can deal with.

Thanks! First- Post from

What type of RAID will you be using? RAID is not necessarily a good idea.

Is that Kingston ram on the Asus QVL?

Also, what power supply are you going to use? The power supply is just as important as the motherboard or the CPU...don't get a cheap generic one.

For the DVD go with the Lite-on.
And don't forget an OS. XP Home OEM around $90
