Newbie Build Need Advice from Experts
I have been in the computer industry for a long time but have never bothered to build a pc until now. Instead of posting I want to spend x amount of money and what should I get, I did a lot of research as was seeing what you guys think of this machine.
Background: Want a computer thats an overall really good machine. Not leaning towards one area specifically but an overall a very good computer Budget: less than $2000 (including 19inch flat panel moniter) CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E660 Motherboard: ASUS P5B Deluxe w/ Wifi Core 2 Duo Supported Socket 775 ATX Motherboard Graphic Card : ATI Radeon X1900GT HardDrive: 3x Seagate 320GB SATA-300 Hard Drive (for RAID) RAM: Kingston Dual Channel HyperX 2048MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz LL Memory (2 x 1024MB) Thats what I've chosen from my research so far, so I'd love to know what you guys think. Anything specifically better than the products above (for a reasonably similar price)? Anything not compatable? I have worked out the price of the above items + 19 inch moniter + case + power + fan + dvd drive and it works out just under $2000 so nothing majorally diffrent in price I can deal with. Thanks! What type of RAID will you be using? RAID is not necessarily a good idea.
Is that Kingston ram on the Asus QVL? |

Also, what power supply are you going to use? The power supply is just as important as the motherboard or the CPU...don't get a cheap generic one.

For the DVD go with the Lite-on.
And don't forget an OS. XP Home OEM around $90
