Looking to upgrade my PC from AGP to PCI-E

Hey everyone, I was thinking about upgrading the rig. Here are the specs now (I built her about 2 years ago):
  • MSI Neo2 Platinum- Motherboard
  • AMD 3200+ - CPU
  • MSI 6600GT- Video Card
  • Dual WD 74gb Raptors (RAID 0)- Hard drives
  • Corsair XMS 1gb (2x512)- Ram
  • Audigly 2 ZS Platinum- Sound Card
  • Antec 380 TruBlue- PSU

I was thinking of just throwing in a SLI/PCI-E Motherboard, and a new video card, for now. I was wondering how this looks, now will I need a new PSU to handle that VGA, or will mine put out enough power (also, is there any way to know how many pin mine is?) ? Later on, around Christmas time, I plan to throw in another gig of RAM, and a new CPU (Dual Core), then of course I will need then get a more powerful PSU (SLI ready, incase I want to throw in another card later on).

MOBO:

VIDEO CARD:

This is what I was looking to do in the future (hopefully by Christmas time):

RAM (maybe, not sure...the 1GB seems to be pretty good for me):

PSU:

CPU:

Then my computer should be finished, now when all that is said and done, should my computer last awhile? By that I mean, will it be a good, powerful rig, at least for a few more years? I'm a regular internet user, and game player, those are pretty much the only two things I use it for, no other programs. All together, it will be around exactly $1,000 into it.

Thanks.

Good choices... couldn't agree more. However, if your going to upgrade most of your stuff anyway, I highly suggest you actually SAVE some money and get the Core 2 Duo e6300, Asus P5B, and 2gb XMS2. That will leave the 4400+ Toledo in the dust.

Crossfire compatibility would be more expensive (from ATI). I highly recommend just one x1900xt as it is better than the 7950gt.

You'd be amazed at what that could do. The x1900xt is out of stock at the moment so buy it from somewhere else or purchase the Asus version. Also look at the x1900xtx.

Would the Intel rig be faster/better than the AMD?

Absolutely, without a doubt. Don't let the operating frequency hold you back.

There is also a 2.13ghz e6400 and a 2.4ghz (4mb cache) e6600 for your consideration. I built a e6600 system for someone and they were blown away with how it was so fast.
