Boot Up Problems...

This is a complete Intel build and here's the problem. I'm a complete newbie at this, but I've lingered around this site for awhile and I've learned alot. I've got power to everything and everything works great. My display shows my hard drives, floppy, and CD/DVD drive. It asks me to choose a bootup option and I chose CD drive. The Cd is in the drive and the light is flashing, so I'm pretty sure it's working. Here's the message I'm getting.
Initializing and establishing link....
PXE-E61: Media Test Failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel Boot Agent
No Bootable Device-Insert Boot Disk and press any key

I've checked the cables and everything looks fine. Am I missing something or just doing something wrong? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

If the CD drive data cable has blue/gray/black connectors, set the jumpers on the back of the CD drive to CS(cable select) Blue connector to mobo, black to cd drive if only drive.

Ok. The cables are correctly connected. However, the jumper on the Cd drive is set to master. I'll switch it and see how that goes. Did I need to configure my bios before loading the Intel disk?

I set the jumper to CS and I still get the same message. Any other suggestions?

One of 3 things.

1. The CD itself is not bootable or defective - very common with burned copies of operating systems (you ARE using a genuine CD, right?).
2. The IDE cable is defective.
3. The CD drive is defective.

Yes, it's a genuine Microsoft cd. I switched the jumper to CS and got it working. It let me install the first disk, ask for the second and then for SP2. When I put in the SP2 disk, it says it needs file 'csms'. Ever encounter this? Right now I'm stuck. I was so proud. The build went pretty smooth. Powered right up and now I'm stuck installing the OS. Gr......Any ideas?

3 CDs? Exactly which OS are you trying to install?

And please post the complete system specs for this computer. List the parts by brand and model including the power supply.

If this is XP Media Center, when it asks for the SP2 disk, I believe it wants the FIRST CD again.

It is Media Center. Disc 1, Disc 2, and Disc 3 (update disc). I assumed it was asking for a regular SP2 disc. I used the one that I used with my VAIO and HP. It keeps saying "needs file 'asms'. Everything I've read states it's a hardware issue. Everything is a day old. DVD/CD drives, HDs, Floppy, Memory, Motherboard, CPU, Graphics card...Everything. I'm beginning to think I have a bad set of discs. Is that a possibility?

Did you try putting in the first CD when the installation asks for SP2?
