Memory question

Will 1024MB Dual Channel PC4200 DDR2 533MHz Memory work with a motherboard which says it accepts DDR2 667MHz Memory?

Question being would the MHz difference be an issue? I have the 533 MHz sticks now but wasn't sure if I had to buy the 667 MHz to get it up and running?

Many thanks

Should be able to work no problems.

Thanks. I thought so too but I'm having problems and I suspected the memory but perhaps it is something else.

Is anyone familiar with ABIT post code AO? I can't really find much on it.

Oh, now you've presented a whole new situation. Post your full system specs and this problem can be resolved. I'm not familiar with that post code, but perhaps others are. Any beeps?

ABIT NI8 SLI mobo
1024 MB PC4200 DDR2 533MHz
GEforce 6800 Xtreme video card
FSP Group (Fortron Source) 450 Watt PSU
Hard drive - can't recall brand name offhand but I think Seagate
CD drive
DVD drive
floppy drive

Had to send back the mobo as it was defective. Just got it back and working out the rest of the bugs.

I did hear 3 long beeps when I tried to boot up. System worked at first, then the mobo went, now I'm back to square one it seems.

I will give that a try when I get home from work. I've checked everything a few times but obviously I'm missing something.

A0~AF Boot clock initial programs 00->AF00 stop at A0->AF Chipset or BIOS damage 1. Clear CMOS2. Send to RMA at last

From Abit's site. Procedure, if I read it correctly, is to clear the cmos, if that doesn't fix it, RMA the motherboard.

I have already RMAd the motherboard once. So if that is the problem I guess time to find a new one.

Do you folks have any recommendations for a motherboard with my set up?

1024 MB PC4200 DDR2 533MHz
GEforce 6800 Xtreme video card
FSP Group (Fortron Source) 450 Watt PSU
Seagate Hard drive
CD drive
DVD drive
floppy drive

It's for my girlfriend. She is looking to play a few games and watch some movies, that's really about it.

I saw this one on newegg but wanted some other opinions

That's a dead end chipset board. What *processor* do you have?

Inexpensive, Core 2 Duo compatible for a future upgrade.

This assumes the video card is PCI-E and the PSU is ATX 2.0 spec.
