Re-apply thermal compound...
ok, im pretty sure i know the awnser to this, but im not about to fry my cpu because i didnt ask.
if you are moving a cpu (and its heatsink) to another motherboard, do you have to wipe off the thermal compound that is already there, and apply new compound? what is the best thermal compound? should i apply the compound then press it together so it spreads itself out, or spread it out myself? thanks in advance, jer888 |

Yes, clean and reapply. Personally, I prefer Artic Silver and I follow these instructions for application.
