Hey,
I had built my PC a few years ago and everything has worked well for years. However, the other day i tried turning it on and nothing happened. It had shut down fine the night before. I checked all the plugs and outlets and all that. I made sure everything was snugly attached to my motherboard. And, my motherboard does have power (an orange LED stays on, and goes off when i completely unplug the comp). So, when i press the power on button, nothing boots up, there is no indication of starting up or anything. just silence. any ideas as to how this happened and what i can do to start it up? thanks |

Have you tried to short the two pins (PWR SW) on the motherboard with a screwdriver? Is the ATX 12v (4x4 pin) cable attached to the motherboard?

Need to know what kind of system components we're dealing with here, especially the brand and wattage of the power supply. Regardless of the orange led, the psu can still be dead. The led is only an indication that the mobo control power is there, not necessarily the power to the rest of the mobo.

That's an old system - anything could have died. I would highly suspect the PSU but the motherboard may be bad. |
