Is my new computer dieing?

Ok guys, I recently built my own computer, Installed windows and all my favorite programs and such. I was talking on skype with my USB headset when i was done with skype, i unplugged my headset from the usb slot then my computer just turned off. When i turned it back on, from the on board speaker it went "EEE OOO EEE OOO" Like a police sieren. Also when i booted up it said a quick message about the CPU but it was too fast to read. Whats up guys?

Please post the complete system specs for the computer with the problem. List the parts by brand and model.

Do you use the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the systray when removing the headphones?

Please change the inline images to links. This forum is dialup friendly and inline images slow things down for modem users.

Are you sure you installed the LGA775 heatsink correctly? It recommended that the heatsink be installed before you install the motherboard in the case. Here's an installation guide.

Are you using the XION power supply? Those aren't very good. You might want to consider getting a better quality one.

If I had to guess, I would say it was the power supply. A Power Supply from the good section here is recommended, especially since the PS can take out other components when/if it goes out. But if you feel comfortable turning it back on, you could turn it on and try:
1. Carefully (after grounding yourself)(and be careful not to touch the fan while its moving) feeling the CPU heatsink. If it is warm, that probably means it is intalled right. If it is cool, your processor might not be making contact with the heatsink.
2. Go into bios to check the temps. They should be in the 30C - 45C range (when idle).

I booted it up and at the start it said somthing along the lines of: Last boot your CPU was shut down due to thermal (overheating)

Ok i just checked my tempatures in my BIOS then i turned off my computer

This is what it says

Processor Temp 120 C
Internal Temp 50 C
Remote Temp 36 C

What do you make of this?

Your heatsink fan is probably not even installed right at all. Shut the computer off immediately to not cause damage, then immediately reseat the HSF tightly with new thermal paste.

It's not dying, your killing it.

What HSF are you using? Looks like a Zalman 9500. They can be/are hard to put on. Just look for temps no higher than 50C idle for Pentium D.

Have you seated the heatsink properly? Take it out again, clean off the paste, and reapply new one. Then reseat it back with 'clicks' heard from every each four buttons.

120C is extremely high, it's 248F...I hope you didn't permanently damage your CPU.

The heatsink has to be on very tight...it has to make solid contact with the CPU heatspreader so that thermal transfer can take place.
