New Build Help

So I just built my first computer and everything was going fairly smooth. But now, I am trying to format my hard drives and install my OS off the CD ROM, but all that comes up is

"Reboot and Select proper Boot Device
or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot Device and press a key"

I have my CD Rom and the first to boot in the BIOS so I dont know whats going on. Another problem I am having is everytime I start up the computer, it says there is a CPU fan error, but I checked it and it seems to be working ok.

You need to do this:

1. Go into your BIOS
2. Go to Boot Setup or similar
3. Set the CD-ROM to the first boot device.
4. Restart PC with XP disk in drive.

Please post the complete system specs for this computer. List the parts by brand and model including the power supply.

Do you have the jumper on the CD-ROM drive set properly for the type of IDE cable you're using? How many optical drives do you have in the computer?

Make sure you have the CPU fan plugged into the CPU fan header and not the case fan header(may be labeled "CHA FAN").
