First Build

Hey guys, been lurking the forums for a while now, school is almost over so I will be ordering my PC in a week or so. First off I'm an Australian so I'll be using these two sites to buy from:

http://www.msy.com.au/Parts/PARTS and http://www.scorptec.com.au/

I'll be using my computer for: Gaming, Playing movies/videos, Video/Photo Editing, Watching TV, Listening to Music and I'll be overclocking it. I'll be leaving it on at night and sleeping about 1-2m away from it so I want it to be very quite. I don't really have a budget but I'm looking to get the best bang for my buck. I already have a WinXP version, Speakers and a monitor. Anyway here my proposed build:

CPU: Inter Conroe (Core 2 Duo) E6300 - $255

CPU Heatsink/Fan: Zalman CNPS9700LED - $89

Motherboard: Asus P5W DH Deluxe - $355

Memory: OCZ DDR2 PC-6400 800Mhz Gold XTX 2x 1GB - $385

Hard Drive: Seagate Baracuda 320GB (7200RPM, SATAII, 16MB Cache) - $138

GPU: Sapphire X1950XTX 512Mb - $643

DVD Drive: 16xLite-On D.L DVD-RW - $49

Keyboard: Logitech G15 USB Gaming Keyboard - $103

Mouse: Logitech G5 Laser - $79

Speakers: Logitech Z230 5.1 (I think) - Already Have

PSU: OCZ 700W GameXtream $228

Case: Antec P180 - $214

Artic Silver Thermal Compound - $17

Total of AUD$2525

Couple of things I'm worried about are the noise on the GPU and the PSU, is worth getting a different fan/heat sink for the GPU or a different quieter PSU? When the GPU sais Crossfire (here) does that mean it comes with the crossfire bridge or I have to buy a different version for it? I'm kind of worried the prices may drop in a couple of weeks when DX10 cards hit Australian, would it be worth using my 6600 for a couple of weeks to get a better deal on a new card or even using it and then purchasing a DX10 card? Will the ASUS PVW DH be able to run my 5.1 speakers fine? Finally any suggestions of a TV Tuner card, I've read about a couple but none of the ones I've read about are on either website.

That's pretty much it, thanks in advance for any replies.

P.S. I've used the prices from msy in many areas as its cheaper, but because it doesn't offer a lot of detail I'll be checking that it is the same as the details on scorptec.

I don't think you'll have a problem with noise from the PSU, and probably not from the GPU. Look into the Corsair XMS2 PC6400 memory - very stable. Also look into the Seagate 7200.10 Perpendicular Recording hard drives. See if you can boost the processor up to the E6600 - great performance/dollar.

Thanks for the quick reply.

That's good about PSU/GPU I wasn't too worried as the P180 is a pretty good case to get rid of the noise. With the XMS2 it's almost $150 more which seems to be a lot and the OCZ is pretty decent from what I hear. I was tossing up between the E6300 and E6600 and the E6600 is 83% more price and from what I've read offers something like 35% better performance which seems to be a lot extra. And I'm pretty sure the Hard drive is 7200.10 but I'll make sure when I order it.

If you need to save some money, look at the Asus P5B boards.

The E6600 has 4mb cache and is a very solid performer. Totally your choice, though. As for the RAM, look at different stores because since they are both 2gb kits they should be similar in price.

OK, I'll definitely consider getting an E6600. Any advice on a TV Tuner card?
