Some Bulding questions!

Hello everybody,

I have started building my 1st system.
And while doing it i have come across few questions.

1) I have 1 dvd/cd writer and 1 cd reader/burner.
What one do i need to use the CD_IN cable with?
Is that cable even necessary?

2) As i read through the post on forums i worry that i have bough a wrong PSU. I read that a PSU from a not so well known company can kill the whole system? Is this true?

I bought a Xion Power Real 500w PSU,
Heres a good review of it:
http://www.cluboc.net/reviews/power/XION/500w/index.htm

3) Just a question about the Front Panel Audio and USB
My cases Front USB is like this:

VCC l
USB1- l These are all as one
USB1+ l
GND l

GND (another wire)

And in the manual of the motherboard the pins go like this:
Pin:
I connected them like this:
1 - Power (5v) (VCC)
2 - Power (5v)
3 - USB DX- (USB1-)
4 - USB Dy-
5 - USB DX+
6 - USB Dy+ (USB1+)
7 - GND
8 - GND (GND)
9 - No Pin
10 - NC (what does NC mean)

( I left out one GND because i have 3 sets of 10 pins and each 10 pins should hold 2 usb ports) Did i connect these right?

And a Front Panel Audio is like this:

Ear (R)
Ear (R)

Ear (L)
Ear (L)

Mic VCC
Mic Data

GND

And the pins in the manual go like this:
Pin:
I connected them like this:
1 - MIC (Mic Data)
2 - GND (GND)
3 - MIC POWER (MIC VCC)
4 - NC
5 - LINE OUR (R) (EAR (R) )
6 - NC
7 - NC
8 - No Pin
9 - Line Out (L) (EAR (L) )
10 - NC

That leaves 1 of each EAR (L) and (R) not connected.
Did i connect this right?

THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP IN ADVANCE!!

Not necessary if you're using WinXP. The digital audio signal is handled by the IDE cable.

Well, yes and no. It's true that poor quality power supplies usually don't have over-voltage protection and can send a surge to the system, but I've never heard of an entire system getting fried from a dying power supply...it's usually just a few components that get zapped.

Although I'd never use one, it looks like that Xion is a decent power supply. But again, I wouldn't use one.

I would switch out the Xion when you can. Here's our list of what to buy and avoid: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=131195

As for the front panel connections, every case and motherboard combination is different. They will never be labeled exactly right. The best you can do is hook them up and see what works and what doesn't. It can take a few tries to figure out.
