Have a look at this Budget Gamer with future upgrade oppertunity.

i think im building this one in 2 weeks. its a budget gammer machine but upgradable in teh future... Don't get an SLI motherboard for a budget gaming PC. Spend the money elsewhere. Get something like the Biostar nForce4 motherboard. You definately by no means should consider using one of those power supplies. For the damage it could cause why risk it? If your on a budget and all your parts get taken out then what are you going to do? I'd question the compatibility with that RAM. Look at Corsair RAM. Also you will need a better video card. Get a 7600gt.

Why are you getting two cases? Did I miss something? If you are using one case just for the power supply, just get a seperate PSU. If you are playing games with large maps and such, get 2GB of DDR2 667 ($200 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145098) instead of 1GB of the faster stuff. What kind of HD do you have? Everything is going to SATA these days, and an 80GB is only $44 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16822135106). You really should get a good power supply for you rig. If you try to save money on it now, you may end up having to get more than just a new power supply when it goes out. Here is my recommendation:
$37 - 400 Watt FSP w/ 36A total 12V (Dual 12V rails) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817104952 I haven't heard of your GFX card manufacturer, but then again, I have a Gecube brand video card, so I guess I don't have room to talk  . Also, don't forget an OS, XP Home is good for everything but advanced networking ($90 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16832116169). You could probably do a Pentium D build for about the same price, but I am not sure which would preform better. Enjoy your build!

thanks guys,
that $37 power supply doesnt look to expensive, its even got a SATA power plug. and i meant budget for now, and upgrade later, like $500 processor and SLi two cards..., and teh reason im getting that ram is because its cheap 1 stick so i can get 4 Gb on it... -Whats the difference between teh 7600GS and 7600GT? yeah i might reconsider the case with out a psu so i can use that $37 one. thanks, anything else i shoudl know do. post abnd ALOS: for power supply wats the difference betwwen ATX ans ATX12V? which one for me? Always good to run 2 memory modules when starting out so each 32 bits of your CPU gets it's on RAM (Dual Chanel) (correct me if I am wrong someone), even if you have to get 2x512 DDR2's you can always trade them in for credit once you have your 2nd bank filled with 2x1 GB sticks. 3 GB isn't that bad of a place to be maxed out at either.
I like the looks of the 2 IDE channels on that board, a lot now have the 4 sata but only one IDE. That board is power hungry though with that extra molex on the board right below the CPU and the 24 pin and the 12 volt and whatever you fans/video card needs. Want a good solid 400Watt with the dual 12V rails (Thanks GLC). |

A 7600gt is more powerful than a 7600gs. ATX power supplies do not have a 12v power connector which the majority of motherboards need today. You want an ATX12v PSU.

ATX12V is what you want, but I bet a lot of companies are throwing around the term "ATX" and "ATX12V" pretty loosely. I haven't seen any power supplies without the extra 12V plug in quite some time. I would think (and hope) any new power supply sold today is ATX12V even it's called an "ATX" power supply, even the cheapo brands.

nForce 5xx chipsets are just newer with added features (not sure of them off the top of my head).

get the 7600 gts its a gs/gt hybrid runs really close to the 7600gt and just a little over 100$ i have that and a amd 3800. on doom bf and others im pulling great fps and im shocked at the smooth gameplay on high settings
 it runs as good as my friends 7600gt. the 3800 is a good cpu it is really fast. good luck on your build
