No display

Hi folks

My PC was powered on and working fine, then the mouse froze.

Now on boot I do not get the monitor to display [black screen]

I already tested the display adapter, monitor and power supply and they all work.

I pulled the RAM even but still no display.

Sounds like Motherboard or CPU to me.

If it's either I will like to know if someone knows where I can get the same motherboard.

MSI
865PE-Neo2-P

Or similar CPU

P4 3.2GHz

Hopefully it's something else and not too expensive to replace.

Thanks
Dave

Do the "out of case build" http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=132409

This will eliminate with shorts to the case.

It's not a newly built pc but thanks for the tips for future reference.

Also if possible I do want to find the same motherboard or very close so I won't have to reformat.

I think I might be able to find it here not 100% sure but any help appreciated.

Dave

You should still try the out of case build. Good troubleshooter.

When you said you tested the video card and the PSU, did you actually try them in an other computer?

Yes I did.

And yes I pretty much always troubleshoot out-of-case but that last step I will try next time.
