Major Problems with DIY Computer
This DIY computer project has had many problems. Skip to the the second paragraph for the current one. I felt the others might have some importance, though.
I got a set of components to build a PC. Everyone went together fine, but when I started up, it froze before it could get to loading from a disk. I contacted the motherboard tech support and eventually confirmed it was a known problem and got a new motherboard. The components had to be taken apart and were unfortunately not stored in optimum conditions. I am having a new problem now, and I can't diagnose it or find a solution. After installing the new motherboard, the computer will boot up, but nothing comes up on the screen. Everything else lights up, and all of the fans are spinning (including the one on the graphics card). The only thing weird is that the graphics card does not seem to be fitting into the slot right. The metal thing that goes on the outside doesn't fit nicely when the card is plugged in all the way. I would appreciate any advice on what this problem is and/or how to diagnose or fix it. (I do not have any extra components for testing around, except for RAM) |

That, and try this:
http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=132409 See if you can get the graphics card to go in out of the case. Make sure you've got the right type of card for the type of motherboard. PCI-Express video card with PCI-E motherboard, AGP with AGP, etc

Thanks
Thanks for the link. I will try that. It is definitely the right kind of card. It worked in a nearly identical motherboard (which had unrelated defects, and had to be replaced with this one) a few weeks ago.
Specs: Foxconn Motherboard 755A01-6EKRS AMD Sempron 64 3400 BIOSTAR VP5200SS16 Geforce FX5200 128MB DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card A-DATA 512MB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) 300 GB SATA Drive DVD/CD RW Drive |

The metal tab can be bend a little so that it fits into the slot in the case.
Also, what brand and model of PSU are you using?
