Hi!
I'm building my first computer (yes another one of those) and want some advice/constructive criticism! Would all of the components i've picked work together? And are there any big mistakes? anything i've missed? Anyway, this is what i've got so far:- PC Case-----------------------------------------------ATX case Hard Drive----------------------------------------------SEAGATE HD IDE 250GB UDMA 100 7200RPM 8MB Processor ----------------------------------------------Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6400 Motherboard-------------------------------------------SROCK CONROE 945G- DVI SATA2 SOCKET 775 Memory Modules -----------------------------------Corsair DDR2 667 2x1gb/2x512mb Power Supply ---------------------------------------ATX 400 watt Video Card -------------------------------------------NVIDIA 7600 GS PCI-E 256MB Keyboard & Mouse --------------------------------got one CD-ROM Drive----------------------------------------got one I'm not sure what monitor i want yet, just something cheap.... And i have no idea what power supple to use really! Sorry, im a bit on the noob side when it comes to building computers but im not a complete dumbass! Lol. ASRock mother boards are a budget board. Could take a look Asus.
Make sure you get a PSU from a good brand like Antec/Fortron/Sparkle.

Get a SATA hard drive instead of an older style IDE drive. If you end up with a motherboard with a 965 chipset (and I recommend you take a look at those, or one of ASUS's cheaper revised 945 boards) you're going to have problems. Intel's 965 chipset dropped IDE support, so most of the boards only have one 3rd party IDE port, which you'll want to use for your CD/DVD drive(s).
Forton/Sparkle has some pretty good budget units (450W Forton for around $50)

i also reccomend a different board and i highly reccomend u get an antec psu. i have been using the same antec neopower 480 psu for 3 years and its been in three different builds aswell. flanz is dead on, get an antec psu. and the best site imo to get computer parts is www.pricegrabber.com from there u can check out some very nice mobo's at great prices.
forgot to change my sig. i am now running an asus a8n sli premium with an amd 4000+ and 2x 6800 gs's |

Thanks for the replies. Ok, so i've corrected a few things...
PC Case- COBRA ATX PC Case Hard Drive- Seagate ST3300831AS 7200.8 300Gb SATA II Processor- Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6400 Motherboard- ASUS P5LD2 SE LGA775 Core 2 Duo 945P ICH7 FSB1066 4Gb Memory Modules- Corsair DDR2 667 2x1gb Power Supply - ANTEC TRUE CONTROL 550W Video Card- NVIDIA 7600 GS PCI-E 256MB Keyboard & Mouse- got one CD-ROM Drive- got one So would you say that it's ok to build that? I'd go for one of Forton/Sparkle's cheaper units. They are cheaper (Forton 450W for $50) and I've been hearing of some issues with Antec PSU's lately. If you want to stick with an Antec - just get the regular Truepower II, unless you must have the volage control features of the power supply you've got listed.
