splat System crashing

I just finished building my new computer, and sometimes not all the time either individual programs randomly exit, or the entire computer seizes up and restarts itself. can anyone give me an explanation and a solution?
Thanks

Assuming you're running XP, turn off the Auto Restart on error feature and let it give you a blue screen error message. Post the error message here for us to help diagnose.

Could you also tell us the complete system specs for this new computer. List all the parts by brand and model including the power supply.

Aspire PSUs are of questionable quailty and may not be an ATX 2.0 dual rail PSU.

The power supply in your case does have dual rails like it should, but Apevia's are questionable at best. It is the first thing I would replace. Especially when the price of the power supply alone is $30 after $10 rebate. Any quality 500w unit will be at least twice that.

Here is our list of brands: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=131195

This is the unit I would recommend as a replacement: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817104954

an ..8E error is most likely ram compatibility issues.

That motherboard is quite new. The forums at Sapphire have several discussions of stability issues with that series. And none seem to offer any final conclusion. If I were you, here's what I'd do.

1) Replace the power supply with the one Alaron has suggested.
2) Make sure ALL the power connectors are properly in place on the mobo, inlcuding aux power connectors
3) Test the memory using Memtest86+. I can't find a memory QVL list at Sapphire so no way to tell if there are compatibility issues with your ram and mobo. If you get any errors with the Patriot memory, retest each stick separately. If both show errors, try a different brand of memory
4) Make sure you have XP fully updated inluding SP2. Only do the updates AFTER you have stability.
5) Make a restore point before any changes/tests so you can go back if need be.

I see that connector in the mobo manual but I'm not familiar with a 2 x 4 power connector. Perhaps someone else has the answer. Does your power supply have a second 2 x 2 connector that is currently unused?

I've seen that the P5B Deluxe has an 8 pin connector, but they have a cap over half of it so you can use a 4 pin power connector too - remove the cap if you've got an 8 pin connector.
Here.

I think it's supposed to be supplementary power for powerful CPU's...I've seen plenty of boards running overclocked, powerful, dual core CPU's with only a 4 pin connector...so it doesn't seem that would make a huge difference.

I would replace the power supply first, but there is a converter (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812201005) on newegg that you could get to rule out the possibility. From what I have heard, you can just plug in the 4 pin and it will work fine.

Your Power Supply is weak and can't push your Video Card. The screen errors are (most likely) related.

There's packages for CD, floppy, and a flash drive. If I recall, there's instructions included.

Why not download Memtest as part of the Ultimate Boot CD? That way you'll have many other useful diagnostic and test programs all on one CD. Here's a link.
