No beeps. No display.

This is a new build that I have never had fully working.

With everything connected I get no beeps and no display. If I remove only the RAM then I get 3 beeps indicating a RAM problem but still no display.

What do you think?

Thanks in advance.

Ben.

Mobo: ASrock 775i65G
CPU: Intel P4 630
PSU: WinPower ATX-400
RAM: 1GB PC3200 DDR400

I'm using the onboard graphics however I do have a video card that I could put in if you think it is necessary.

I have done the out of the case build before when I was having problems but have not tried it with this new problem no.

I'd try the out of case test. Make sure the hsf is properly seated on the mobo and try your memory one module at a time (assuming you have more than one installed). You'll need a case speaker connected to the Speaker front panel connections on the mobo to hear any beeps.

What if you remove the video card? You should have some beeps with it removed.
Have you tried to boot with no optical and hard drives connected?

Did you plug both power connectors into the motherboard?

Do you have another compatible power supply you can swap in to test with?

@tempus: I'm not using a video card, I'm using the onboard video.
I did try to boot with no drives connected when I tried the out of the case build. Got nothing.

@Cricket: Yep, both connectors are plugged in.

I do have another PSU I could try however, I only just pulled this PSU out of a fully working PC, so its not faulty.

What are the specs of the computer that the PSU came out of? Is it a lot less powerful than this new computer? I'm not familiar with WinPower power supplies and don't know if it's a good quality or poor quality unit. Poor quality units may not put out the advertised wattage and the new system may be too much for it.

Normally when I troubleshoot a computer I never assume anything. For a problem like yours the first thing I would do is swap in another power supply.

The PC it came out of is a higher spec PC yes, faster CPU, decent video card. And the PSU worked fine.

I have a feeling it could be the CPU any easy ways of testing for a faulty CPU?

I would suspect the motherboard before I suspected the CPU. Intel CPUs have a really good track record as far as working right out of the box. ASRock on the other hand is a bargain motherboard brand that comes from a bargain manufacturer.

The only way I know to check the CPU is to swap it into a working compatible system.

Well I had this problem before and it was the CPU, ofc it could still be the mobo.

The CPU came out of my old PC which was working fine. I will put it back in to see if it still works. I probably blew it up or something. If it turns out its not CPU I'll get a new mobo. Maybe not an ASrock one I always thought they were a good manufacturer, but you live and learn I guess.

ASRock is a subsidiary of ASUS, but the motherboards themselves are made by ECS or PC Chips (I forget which).
