New build trouble - system cycles

Hello everyone,

I just build the following:

Asus K8N-DL
Dual Opteron 265
2x1gb Corsair ECC Registered DDR400
Liteon DVD-ROM
Western Digital Raptor 10k 74gb
3 Case fans in 4u rackmount case
Antec NeoHE 500w

Everything powers up okay and everything is recognized in the BIOS, but it will not install XP from the disk! I have the jumper set to cable select. It spins, but nothing happens. It gets me all the way to the PCI device listings, and then shuts down. It only shuts down when I have the IDE cable in the primary IDE slot, if I move it to the seconday IDE slot, it doesn't read disks, but doesn't shut down.

Now I know what it feels like to have problems with a new build. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My boot device is set correctly.

It hangs up on "Verifying DMI Pool Data." The DVD drive sounds like it is starting to read and then cuts out.

I think you should have posted this in your previous thread and remember to use the Edit feature instead of posting several minutes apart.

I tried to clear the CMOS jumper, then put it back, and it made the problem even worse. I cannot get into the BIOS now. Something seriously is wrong... I feel like RMAing the motherboard.

Oh, but it gets better! Now when I even try to press delete to enter setup, the lights on my keyboard just flash like crazy! What did I do wrong...

I'm really sorry to bump, but now I cannot even enter the BIOS. I removed everything from the case. Ever since I reset the CMOS jumper nothing happens when I press DEL to enter setup. It just freezes.

Please use the edit button. Posting a couple minutes apart is frowned upon here as needless post padding. You'll find it in the lower right of every post.

Alaron and Cricket, I do appologize. I was being disrespectful and greedy for help.

If anyone cares to still help me, so far I am out of the case with RAM, 2 CPUS, and video card. The POST screen shows up and I cannot go any further. I know I messed something up when I reset the CMOS...
