What motherboard do you have? What exactly are you trying to set up? Generally, they are plug and play these days, the only thing needing adjustment is the boot order should you want it.

As doctorgonzo said, you dont need to do anything in the bios unless you want to set up a raid configuration, or change the boot order when installing an OS.

Go into the BIOS and set the first boot device to the CD-ROM. Put the WinXP in the CD-ROM (or DVD drive) and then Save and Exit the BIOS. The computer will reboot to the WinXP CD and the installer will take over. Follow the on-screen instructions.

You may need to have the driver disk handy for the SATA drive. You will be prompted to hit f6 while installing XP. You need to watch the screen on the bottom because it does not stay on very long.
