Frustrated with the newest technology
I'm sure this has happened to some people. Getting ready to build a new system but the techology is coming out so fast its hard to choose the right parts. Can't decide between a core2 duo setup and AM2.
I know for sure I'm buying the new 8800 GXT and going SLI eventually. My problem is if I choose an AM2 I can pickup a dual core chip for cheap or wait for the newer 65um chips to come out. The core2duo have proven themselves but there aren't many boards offering the 680i chipset and the 975X doesn't natively support SLI. That leaves the 590 chipset. I work for ASUS so I can pickup either the crossfire MB or a deluxe 975x chipset a lot cheaper than the market. I've got a pretty good budget ($2000) and quite a few parts already on hand, so cost isn't really an issue (although I don't plan buying the FX or EE edition processors). I really want a system that will push the newest games and run DX10 when it comes out. Any ideas or thoughts? |

You work for Asus? I love you. You guys helped me discover my defective RAM... Want to pick me up a P5B?
(kidding)And to help you; -Your right, it does happen to everyone. It is now a game of getting whatever is best at that given moment, or hour (kidding). -If you are getting that video card, it is best to get the nVidia 680i chipset or better. Don't bother with 5xx chipsets with Intel. -Have you looked at this? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131073 -Remember, AMD is NOT a horrible choice. The reason it is degraded by many is the sole fact that it is unstable, slim pickings, and AM3 isn't very far away. You just have to do your reseach. In the end, if you really wanted that video card, I'd have to urge you to go with an AMD build. Get reliable memory, Kingston is good.

Well. I should keep up with our product line better. I swore these just came out newegg! They weren't there 1 hour ago.
Based on all the reports LGA775 is going to be around for at least another year or longer. I'm not too keen on the AMD 4X4 idea and the quad core processors won't come down past 1k for at least 1 year. I mean the Pentium D EE is still up around 1K depdending on where you look. I'll have to check the pricing on the new 680i's. $300.00 is a bit steep! Glad we solved your memory issue ![]() If anyone needs additional support for ASUS products please let me know. I'd be glad to help. |
