Good Gaming Setup?

Is this a good setup for a gaming computer:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.40GHz

Intel D975XBXLKR Socket 775 ATX / Onboard audio, LAN, USB

NEC 16x8x16x DVD+R/RW / 16x6x16x DVD-R/RW / 8x +R DL / 6x -R DL / 48x32x48x CD-RW

Seagate / Barracuda 7200.10 / 250GB / 7200 / 16MB / ATA-100 / EIDE / OEM / Hard Drive

Ultra 1024MB PC4200 DDR2 533MHz Memory x2

HIS Radeon X1950 Pro IceQ3 Turbo / 256MB GDDR3 / PCI Express / Dual DVI / HDTV

Is this a good setup for running games with all video settings at max?

With liquid cooling, about how much more speed can I get out of this by overclocking?

Thanks,
Smeagol

The best 975x board would be the ABIT AW9D or AW9D MAX. A Lite-On Optical Drive would be better. Memory wise, you don't want DDR2533. Corsair XMS or CRUCIAL DDR2800 should be your memory options. Both are excellent. Seagate is a good hard drive choice, but you should go with the 250GB 7200.10 Sata 16mb w PDR. Video card looks OK, but a Sapphire X1950XT would be a better choice. Power Supplies - Seasonic or PC POWER & COOLING. If you are new to overclocking, or if this is your first run on a build, I'd stay away from liquid cooling for now. Zalman CNPS 9500 or 9700 is a good CPU cooler choice.

If your truely up for liquid cooling I can help spec out a setup for you. But plan on atleast $200 for a single cpu only loop. And around 250-300 for cpu and gpu.

I agree with what Chuck said. A P5W DH or Abit AW9D/AW9D MAX would be good. I have used that motherboard and it is very good too, though. Drop the ultra RAM and grab some Corsair for your setup. Nice video card selection.

If you go with that Intel motherboard you'll get nowhere because you can't overclock with a Intel motherboard. No speed adjustment options available.

Just got back from vacation without internet.

I'm going with Lite-on SHM-160P6S DVD drive
Asus P5W DH-Deluxe
Centon 1024MB PC5400 DDR2 667MHz Memory x2 - Will this work? It's $79 after $30 rebate

Thanks for all the help,
Smeagol

Don't get that memory - Corsair is what you want with these newish chipsets. Get at least PC5300. If your getting an ATI card, see if Sapphire makes the one you want.

I would suggest avoiding TigerDirect. They have poor customer service. Go with Newegg.com.

Try Mwave too....I've come out better than Newegg when I buy MB, memory, and processor together. I always get a free game too for what its worth. (Give it to somebody as a christmas present).
