Great PSU. Great CPU. EVGA's new in the market on that board. ASUS and ABIT have their own versions out now. I'd be sure that I wanted the EVGA.

I seriously hope your getting atleast a 24-30 inch monitor to make even 80% use of two 8800GTS's.

Maybe its just me, but i dont know why you need a $230 case.
and those DVD burners are pricey. And if youre going to go ahead and spend a $1000 bucks on video cards, why not upgrade the processor to the 6800, obviously moneys is not a factor. Looks like a screamer though...alot of bang if even for a lot of buck. |

I've got a 24 inch Dell.
The ASUS boards are like $100 plus more than the EVGA. Might have to think about that one, dont want to get a lemon board |

I would save on the crazy dvd burners and get the better motherboard lol. However the Evga isnt bad. Its oem'ed by Foxconn which is a reliable motherboard manufacturer.

yeah, overkill to be sure. As an example, I run two 21" monitors, with four windowed City of Heroes accts running at 800x1200 resolution, maxed settings, and I get 50-70 fps. And thats on my 7950 GTX dual SLI. I dont know what the heck you need all that video card for, but im not really allowed to preach about being excessive. (so my wife tells me) |

The case will have plenty of room for those monster vid cards and upgrades in the future. But I'm all ears if you have a better opinion.
On upgrading the processor, I'm already over budget. |

Thats fine. Everything should be damn pretty at 1920x1200 with everything turned to max.
Good choice in case. I use its smaller brother for my own. |

eVGA is better known for video cards. They haven't been around long enough for us to know their motherboard quality. Asus on the other hand is the proven best manufacturer for quality boards. That's why we recommend them.
I agree about the optical drives. Plextor's are good, but there is no reason to spend that much. A $40 Lite-On will be just as good.

Ok I most likely will change to the ASUS motherboard.
On the Opitical Drive. I'm looking for the best to burn DVD's with. I've got butt loads of video and need to start moving them from my Mini DV tapes to DVD's. Can anyone be specific on the Opitical Drive- Brand, Model, Etc... Is this a good one: Plextor PX-760A |

Here are some money saving options:
Just get one Video Card. Get a cheaper case, Thermaltake Armour is a nice pick. Get the Thermaltake Toughpower 700 Watt (it has more amps on the 12V rails and it is cheaper): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817153039 Don't get a raptor. Get a larger single Seagate 7200.10 or two smaller Seagate 7200.10's. Get the LiteOn 18x for the fastest DVD burning speed avaliable and a lot less money: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827106043 or you could get the 16x version: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827106013 Enjoy your build!

Yeah one Video card should be fine. I'll go with the 8800GTX and wait for prices to come down a little to pick up another after some D-X10 games come out. On the case. Will it be large enough for the 8800GTX? PSU. Will it be enough to handle two D-X10 cards in the future? I will most likely be going SLI and want to make sure I have enough power. On the HD drives. Isnt the 10,000RPM better and faster than the 7200RPM drives? Sorry dont know much about HD. So are you saying get one or two 7200.10 Seagates along with the 320HD storage one I'm already getting? Can for sure save some doe on the lite-on. Thanks for the link. Guys have a happy turkey day and dont eat to much! gobble gobble |

Case: Yes, it is a full tower case.
PSU: That is more than enough power HDD: What I would do is get one of the Seagate 7200.10 for storage, and a Western Digital Raptor for programs and the OS |

Go for it.
Does Newegg have the Asus 680i board in stock? If they do, get that.

Awesome build. Great choice on the PSU. However one change I would make is to downgrade your cpu to a E6700. Save some of that money for later. Perhaps a better soundcard or something.
The diff between x6800 and e6700 is meaningless unless your planning on some serious overclocking. |

The striker includes a few features which I wont get into, but basically they are useless unless your going for world record overclocks. It also has a little bling and a few extra goodies. But not worth 400 bucks. Stick to the first one. |

Top 3 heatsinks for quiet/overclocking:
Sunbeam Tuniq Tower Thermalright Ultra120 Scythe infinity You will need an additional fan if you choose the thermalright. Make sure these will fit in the case. |

Does installing a heatsink void any of the warranties? If I dont really do any overclocking or just very minor overclocking will I need one noted above or can I just go stock? If I can just go stock, how loud do you guys suppose this machine will be? Oh by the way, does anyone know why the PSU I have listed 750W not be compatiable with the ASUS 680i motherboard? Someone else told me to be sure to check that out. |

Installing an aftermarket heatsink fan does void your processor warranty. As for the power supply, it is an EPS12v power supply, which I think means it does not have a 4-pin ATX12v power connector. Probably will not work if you do not require the 8-pin connector on your motherboard.

Honestly, if your not overclocking the Intel stock heatsink fan is more than sufficient. And that power supply should actually work, I just cannot find the four pin CPU power that it should have. Let someone else here confirm the compatibility. This looks nice, too: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371001
