What do you need for an OEM hard drive that is not provided in the box? I assume some sort of mounting equipment or cables...

More specifically, I would like to know about the Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 SATA 320GB OEM HDD.

Assuming I do need mounting equipment/cables, could you please suggest some? Thanks!

Depending on the case and where you place it will determine what type of mounting is required. If you place it in the 5.25 bays, you'll need a hard drive mounting kit. Sometimes you can get away with just mounting screws in the side of the HDD. Now, as far as cables, SATA has special connectors for power as well as a special Interface for the communication cable. I think that when I usually buy an OEM drive, all I get is the harddrive itself. You'll need the SATA cable and the power connector. Go to your local OEM dealer and they should have what you need.

If this is a new build, the cables generally come with a new motherboard. If you're just adding it on to an existing system, then yeah, you can just buy the cables separately.

hard to tell exactly. Like juppy said, most cables come with a new motherboard as kind of a stock sort of deal. But in order to be 100% sure, just buy everything, get it shipped to you, and see if you need something. Buying something you definately don't need is just worthless.

OEM products usually ONLY come with the item itself. Usually no screws, cords, anything is included.
