PSU Question

Hi everyone. This is my first post here so I apologize if it reeks of "noob"-ness. Anywho I am putting together my first box in what must be 7 years. I really have been out of the loop of the DIY world but I am determined to make a decent system. While the majority of the system is fairly high end--Pentium Core 2 6400, 680i chipset bla bla bla--I am a bit hung up on PSU's.

At the moment I am torn between two

--and--

Other than SLI capabilities--which are great for expansion but are un-needed for approximately 6 months-- does one PSU have a great advantage over the other? Is there something glaringly different that I may be missing? Thanks for all your help in advance, and once again my most sincerest apologies if this post reeks of suck!

Depending on how strong of a video card you get will detemine the size of the PSU. For one hi-end video card 500w should do and I prefer Enermax over Thermaltake. Going Sli is a whole another ball of wax.

First, thanks for the timely response! As for the video card, its nothing special. Like a GeForce 7600 or 7900 series--can't look right now, professors don't like internet + lecture. I'm not too concerned over the power, more the quality. I would be severly disheartened if my custom box turned into a custom house fire.

So Enermax over Thermaltake ehh. Thanks for you advice!

For a 7600GS, could get by with a 400w FSP, which are around $60.
