Is this a custom built system of a brand named machine?

What PSU do you have in there?

I may be mistaken but I am tempted to say it's probably not something a UPS will cure.

Yes this is a custom built system.
has a Cool Max 500w XEON/AMD-64 SLI EPS Power Supply

Its not a overheating problem because the system runs at 35c-40c.
Fan is at 2766 rpm
Voltage is 1.31

Have double checked all driver updates
Ran Virus/spyware check in safe mode with 2 different programs. I have Panda Titamium 2007and I also used Trend online virus check.
Checked in device manager and have no hardware conflicts.

Coolmax PSUs are not the best supplies. Check in the BIOS for correct and stable voltages.

How do I check that and what should the correct and stable voltages be?

Your BIOS should have a menu for PC Health or something similar. Check them all and you'll find it.

It will show the voltages for the rails on the PSU: 12V, 5V and 3.3V. The reading should be within 5-10% of the value. Post them here.

Should have an option in the BIOS called PC Health Status or something along those lines...all the voltages need to be putting out what they say the should be.

e.g:
12V = 12V (roughly)
5V = 5V (roughly)

Don't expect them to be dead on what they should be...but have a look to see how accurate the voltages are.

Those voltages are well within spec.

Original Question

Now back to my original question, can anyone recommend a good UPS. Don't know anything about them. Don't want to break the bank but want a decent one.

APC is a popular brand. Look for one that is line-interactive. These are the "Smart-UPS" models from APC.
