Going off the deep end... totally revised my build
Decided if I was going to change my system to a gamer that a micro board just wouldn't cut it.... SOOOOO, I am taking the plunge and gonna do it right.

Oh yeah, I went to Fry's today and got the Extreme Music X-Fi card today for $99.99 along with the games FEAR and Legos Star Wars. I have concerns about the memory I picked. Can someone suggest compatible RAM for this mobo that is under $300, please? These are the new parts... still looking for the money for a LCD monitor. It's excellent RAM but I gotta tell you, it doesn't divide up very well if you're planning on some overclocking. I think that they've got the CORSAIR XMS PC 6400 on sale at Newegg (right now) for 288 bucks. That would be a better option for that. Otherwise, it performs stellar and can really take some voltage. That build looks good. Great hard drive. They've also got the XFX 7900GS EXTREME EDITION on sale for 188.00.

Thats a good powersupply, but heres a better one for the price:
Aerocool ZDBA 500W That is really not one of crucial's better rams. It uses value binned Micron Chips I believe. Overall if your into overclocking I would get something like this for the same price: 2gb Crucial Ballistix<----Beware I cannot gurantee it will work on the P5B. Or if OC is something your not looking to do, go with something cheaper and save the $$. 2gb Corsair VS DDR2 667 One more thing, the difference between e6300 and the e6400 is marginal AT best. Save money here and downgrade to E6300. And lastly, spend the money you saved on the ram and the CPU on a better video card. I suggest the X1950PRO or the X1950XT.

I'd get the Corsair as Mr. Ferrari suggested - it worked in mine.

Good choices. But that crucial memory is good. However as far as overclocking goes, it will be not all that much better then the Corsair.
If your looking to overclock..well I can suggest some MUCH better stuff for the same price, but with anything that has to do with overclocking, I can never gurantee 100% compatibility. |

Like I said I can never gurantee 100% compatibility. But the p5b is a very versatile board.

My friend you are not going to even need to over clock with the E6400 - it is very fast at stock speeds. Even if you did stick with the Corsair Value memory - you could still push 2.6-2.8 with ease.

TP: The CRUCIAL you have listed doesn't overclock so great. That's what I have in here. It falls all apart when you tighten the timings. The modules are INFINEON. I've pushed it to 2.6, but any time I get things past 2.4, I get the failed overclock notice when Windows opens up. It'll take the voltage and run wide open running 5s. I'd get the CRUCIAL PC6400. At least you'll have some headroom. I'm upgrading myself, after I get a new Vid Card and a righteous PSU. I'm not sure that the PC5300 Mr. F. mentioned will work either.

The Ballistix is Micron D9GMH. The same stuff thats in their DDR2 1000. Some of the best overclocking memory on the market.

CPU-Z and Evrest claim mine is INFINEON. I thought it was MICRON too. Part number is identical. I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed. The DDR2667 you have mentioned is the Ballistix line. That's Micron.
