PSU hook up
So here's the deal. I've just put my new build together, go to turn it on and nothing happens other then the lights on my keyboard lighting up. Any ideas?
oh btw this is my first build so i guess you could say im a noob. |

Could you list your parts by make and model number? There are different connections depending on the particular combination of parts.

http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=132409 You may have a short with the case if you got an extra standoff (those brass things between case and motherboard) in there.

Do the out-of-case build as indicated in Blue's thread. Also make sure you have both the 24 pin AND the extra 4 pin power connector plugged-in to the board.

Ok got everything on and running. Now i don't get anything on my monitor?

Please give us some more information. What did you change that got the fans to start? Is the system build out of the case as per the instructions in that thread?

No its in the case, i had the powerswitch and led switched
 . So eveything is in the case and hooked up.

The fact that you're getting no video means that your system isn't POST-ing. This can be caused by a faulty component, or something as simple as that your system is grounding out to the case. Did you only install stand-offs where there is a hole in the motherboard for a screw, or did you put more in?
Regardless, the best way to troubleshoot this is to follow the steps in that thread. Do that, and post back with the result FK |

All standoffs are in and no extras. This is an older monitor so i had to use a adapter that came with the 7950gt. I also noticed my old comp. had a port for this aswell. So i tried it, it did not work aswell...

Take the parts out of the case and then try for POST again. That's the only way to find out if the motherboard is shorting/grounding out to the case somewhere.
Also, does the monitor work?  Cricket

yes the monitor works....its the one im using right now. But it doesn't work on this computer when using the adapter also

So i did it out of the case...Still nothing on the monitor, just a black screen.

Oh, and everytime i just simply connect the DVI adapter to the VGA the screen goes black
