Aerocool and Vantec

Does anyone have any experience on these parts? I'm just finishing up my build and would love to include these...all I need is a little more peace of mind.

Vantec thing is probably alright... that fan is loud, if you are looking for something quiet.

Yeah, I noticed that the fan could give some a headache...sound isn't always my big issue...but in case it was I opted for the sweet controller. Matches the system, so why not?

And thanks Red.

The only fan controller I suggest:Sunbeam Rheobus

Some better 120x25mm fans:
Yate Loon D12SM-12
Thermaltake Smartfan
Silverstone SST-FM

The only issue I have with the fans is that I need something that will fit the theme...so far Aerocool has the only options for me. Thanks for the recommendation on the fan controller, too. I'll take you up on it.

I have that fan, and personally it works great. I too don't mind the sound though.

Alrighty, going with the Aerocool and the Sunbeam.

4 Aerocools creating a veritable wind tunnel...but I'll have to see which fan to place on the side panel. I have 3 fans now that I could use...2 are Antec TriCools with blue LEDs and one more without. Hopefully I can work it out so it doesn't look cheesy.

That will bring (at max settings) an exhaust of 220-230 CFM and an intake of 180-260 CFM depending on the side fan...wow.

Careful, I was told that too much airflow just creates unnecessary turbulence.

Too much uneven airflow creates turbulence...the more measures you take to make it streamline, the less turbulence. I fly planes, so airflow isn't a new concept.

I received a Vantec 301 the other day but didn't test it yet. It fits an optical bay as opposed to a 3.5 bay but comes with 2 cathodes (minus 1 fan controlling channel) and is less than half the price of the Vantec unit you linked us too.

Let me know if you want me to test it. I have a few silverstone, antec, and silenx fans to test it with if you want.

For fans, I'm also a fan of Silverstone. I've got a pair of "SilentMatic" fansthat came with my system and they're spectacular!

My fans came with my Silverstone case and I can't seem to find them described anywhere else, but these come close.

^Right. As long as flow management is done with thought and is properly balanced, it will immensely help. There should never be too much positive pressure, nor should there be too much negative pressure. And has long as air is entering in, and out in a unobtrusive fashion then its great.

Me? I couldnt live with all that noise. But to each his own..

What I personally prefer is a front and rear fan, that is it, no side fans or any other creative ideas/places for fans that will disrupt the airflow that I have from the front of my case, through my CPU cooler, and out the back of my case.

Each individual system is unique. I suppose quality cases are tested so that optimum airflow is attained even with a few accessories added here or there. As far as I know, using a fog machine is the easiest way to test for optimal airflow.

Worst comes to worst, fan velocities can always be manipulated or they can simply be turned off.

Also, there is always some turbulent flow. The CPU cooler's job isn't to cool just the CPU; air washes over and cools the surroundings too. Don't forget that you also have the PSU fans in there. It sucks air from the case and exhausts it.

In other words, the flow from intake to exhaust is guaranteed to be perturbed. Let it be by a PSU fan, VGA fan, CPU fan. I don't think that an extra fan or two will make too much of a difference as long as total flux through the intake is the same as the outake. What goes in must go out, as a few people said before, or else imbalances will occur and detrimentally affect things.

Exactly...and the nice thing is that the slot for the side panel fan sits slightly ahead of my graphics card...the idea is to make it have a high enough power setting that it blows air directly overtop of the GPU as it mixes with the rest of the airflow going through the case. Too little air from that fan won't do anything but make noise, and too much air will simply impact with the motherboard and cause problems. So as you guys/gals (I have no idea) have said, its about balance.

I am a bit of a fan freak, to be honest...but I don't want so many fans that it looks like a case built from them. I want em because I see creating a huge airflow situation that works very well as a challenge.

And newbuilder, I don't do commercial jets. I'm a small plane guy at heart, for sure. I already have my private license as well as my glider's license, and I will finish my commercial at the end of this school year...hopefully will move on to float planes and twin engine sometime soon.
