Deciding between these 2 cards
Hi - I'm wondering if you could give me some suggestions on these 2 VideoCards -
HIS X1950PRO XFX 7900GS XFX has more pixel pipe lines and higher memory clock... I'd appreciate your suggestions and comments. (plz don't give me any other cards that are more expensive) Thx for ur replies (if any) |

Ya- I currently have HIS X800GTO and I'm pretty satisfied with HIS.
I still don't know which one to get - I was thinking performance-wise the 7900GS would win but I can't find any reviews of this particular one online:-( |

X1950pro!
I've heard Radeons are better for many games, but I still use a GeForce lol. If you can get the Sapphire version of it that would be best - not to say HIS is bad, though. It is like eVGA vs. BFG Tech.

Actually HIS makes some really good stuff. They have great service. Also they use much improved coolers outsourced from Arctic Cooling that help the card run much cooler and quieter.
Seems like its on sale too. |

Tyvm for your replies.
Just one more thing - could any1 plz explain to me why and how is the X1950PRO better performance-wise when the 7900GS got 600/1600 with 20pipelines and the X1950PRO is 620/1480 with 12pipelines or is there anything else to it ? is it the chip ? Just really curious |

The X1950Pro will probably have a slight edge over a X1900GT, but if you need to save some money, Newegg has a good sale on their X1900GT ($170):http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102022 . Keep in mind that it doesn't have quite as fancy of a cooler as the X1950Pro that you picked, but it should still be fine.

yea- Sapphire is very nice
If I went with Sapphire I think I'd go with this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102070 I think this one might be even better than the HIS but not sure |

Actually I'd rather have the HIS cooler then a puny Zalman stuck on to a sapphire card.
Pixel Pipelines is no longer everything. Pixel Shaders is what newer ATI cards and all new DX10 cards have started to employ. What it lacks in Pipelines it makes up for shading. Shaders are a big part of games nowadays. GPU power is being more and more devoted to that sole purpose of rendering shaders. Thats why most ati cards come out on top in newer shader intensive games. |

well - I've heard that the HIS version temp on Load is about 3-4c lower than the Sapphire.Stock cooler can OC to 702/2034mhz. Temp on load about 80c. the Sapphire one on load about 83-84c.
So I guess that's the only difference between thoz two - even tho the coolers look exactly the same then I've found another version with the IceQ3 cooler on it http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814161048 but that's bout $50 dolla more edit ; oh , i just wanted to see if everything will be okay power consumtion-wise - I have Enermax Noisetaker , 485W , dual +12V rails - total 32A |

We'll its probally in a margin of error as both have the stock ATI referance coolers. They are both exactly the same thing. But either HIS or Sapphire is good as far as quality goes. I just suggested the sapphire because it was the same price without rebate.
And your PSU is fine. |
