do you have the hard drive on a seperate IDE channel or on the same IDE channel as the cd rom?

how do you have the drive jumpered?

are you using 80 wire cable with the blue end on the mobo and the black on the drive?

i do not have a floppy drive. It is set up on it's own cable and set up the same way you just stated. the jumper is set as master. I am not sure if it could be a problem within the bios or not.

if its on its own cable then set it to cable select and try again.

also disable the FDD controller if you have that option in your BIOS

Sorry i meant cd-rom not floppy.

I changed the jumper to cable select. but could not find anything in the bios for fdd controller. This did not help my situation. Any other thoughts?
