Help with OS install
Ordered all the parts for my tower. Got everything together. Fired it up, it went through
Post with one beep and came up to the BIOS screen. All fans lights etc are working fine. Bios recognized all drives. CPU temps running in the 44 to 46 degrees C range Heat sink is not hot to touch. The problem is when I go to install Windows XP Pro., the files all load and I get to the Welcome to setup screen and after I press enter it just sits there |

We'll probably need some specs to help you out a bit. Can u give hardware specs? Are you going to load onto a sata harddrive, and if so did you do the F6 thing and load the sata drivers?

I don't see your memory listed there. Memory causes freezing, however usually not that late in setup. Could very well be your hard drives... they are not hooked up in a RAID or anything are they?

I used a usb floppy drive to make a disc containing the drivers for the sata. I then booted xp off of cd rom, pressed f6 then loaded drivers off of the floppy. It then preceded to ask me where I wanted to put the os. I chose my partition then it came up with a screen saying to insert nvidia raid driver disk into a: then press enter. i pressed enter and nothing happened. am I going to have to put a floppy drive in this to get the os loaded.

Try installing Windows with only one hard drive and one optical drive connected - and NO peripherals or USB devices except a keyboard and mouse - and possibly the USB floppy.

I was finally able to get the OS installed. I unhooked one of the hard drives and one of the optical drives tried it and got the same thing. Finally, I took a floppy drive out of another computer I have and temped it in just long enough to get the OS installed. Thanks to everyone for their input.
