Just FYI, a Core 2 Duo setup of less value while demolish that AM2 setup.

-That memory is not a good choice. These were the first revision platinum's and they have a major compatibility issue with the AM2 platform. I would suggest the Revision 2 version of these. OR better, just get some Corsair XMS:
Corsair XMS PC6400 Or Corsair XMS PC5400

-I would get this Lite-On drive instead.

-You dont need an ethernet card, your motherboard already has one integrated.

Chuck's list looks fine to me. Get the retail DVD drive for the software.

If you want to cut the cost, get the E6300, P5B, 2gb Corsair VS, Sapphire x1950pro, Silverstone 500w or similar, etc.

can i upgrade later for better CPU and video card later? to Intel Core 2 Extreme? how good is this video card Sapphire x1950pro? is it the same i had? i'd like to be able to play new games at med-high settings. also i dont' think that with this setup i could have 2 video cards (SLI) in the future...

SLi is a waste of money unless your going for two of the top of the line cards.

Speaking of which anything besides 680i for nforce/intel is asking for trouble. Stick to an Asus P5B with an Intel Chipset.

You can still keep your 7950GT if you want, you wont be able to run them in SLI.

And swap that ram out for this:
