Welcome to PC Mech!
First of all, the power supply that comes in the case you chose isn't suitable for the build. Not only is it of low quality, it isn't ATX2 standard. The PSU is such a vital part of your system, so it's important not to skimp. The PSU selection at Ebuyer isn't great, so I'd head over to www.overclockers.co.uk for this... http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=CA-005-CS Great unit, will power any single video card system. Second, I'd skip Ebuyer's own-brand 'value' RAM. Its quality is variable at best, and in my experience is usually poor. I'd go for Corsair VS DDR-667 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=MY-097-CS (giving you links at Overclockers here, because their site is much nicer to navigate. If you can find the same product at Ebuyer then do some price comparisons) You might consider the 250GB flavour of that drive. It's in the 'sweet spot' in terms of price per gigabyte. When it comes to video card / processor / motherboard recommendations - it's all about what you want this system to do. You've gone for a top of the line processor and motherboard, but for a gaming system, the video card is a little 'underpowered' in comparison. Let us know what you want this computer to do, and we can advise you further. FK

Aside from FK's suggestions which I agree with, I would skip that video card and go for an x19-- ATI series card, such as the x1950pro. Good luck.

Could you just copy and paste your lists into your posts instead of attaching them? Just makes it easier to see the parts you're thinking of. Thanks.

Why did you choose the Akasa power supply over the Corsair I linked to? The corsair is only £4 more expensive, and I'd trust it to power virtually any system.
Still need to know what you want to use this computer for. FK |

If you're going to be gaming, get rid of the graphics card you have and go with the X1950Pro that Newbuilder mentioned. It's a MUCH better unit. Try this one for a few $$ more:
http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/119203/rb/23931602347 Or this one, with 512Mb memory, for a few quid more: http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/119956/rb/23931602347 Either of those will whip the crap out of that X1800GTO. Why use a 6600 Core 2 and then cripple it with a marginal vid card? Personally, if you had the coin, with that system I would look at a x1950XT or 8800GTS. JMO.

Change the hard drive to something more powerful with 16mb of cache.
Definitely change that video card to something that gives you decent value for the money, like the 7600gt or X1950Pro (my choice). |

DX10 is only applicable if you plan on upgrading to Vista any time soon - and I certainly wouldn't recommend you do that until at least the first service pack - and I'd be surprised if we see that within a year.
That said, blowing mega bucks on a DX9 card isn't that sensible, either. My suggestion would be to get a good mid-range card now, such as the X1950Pro Newbuilder recommended. This one is great value: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=GX-065-HT If you need to cut costs to achieve that, switch the Motherboard to the standard ASUS P5B. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=MB-151-AS I know the motherboard and processor are in a 'bundle' at Ebuyer - but if you notice, that's saving you a grand total of £2.35! Here's the hard drive I'd recommend http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=HD-046-WD Finally, I'd be tempted to make a decision on a retailer and get ALL your parts from there. It will save you paying for two lots of shipping. Overclockers would be my suggestion, but that's totally up to you. FK |

All you should change is the hard drive and video card, or many none at all as they are pretty decent. The Seagate 7200.10 or the Western Digital SE16 hard drive(s) would suit you better. The X1900GT is an awesome card but you'd get better value out of a X1950PRO.

In my opinion, that Motherboard is overkill - it's a top-end board with Crossfire support that's really only necessary for someone with a VERY large budget who wants the absolute best.
I maintain my suggestion to get the cheaper ASUS P5B, with the Corsair VS DDR2-667, and the X1950pro (links already provided). With the money saved, you may be able to get that E6600 processor back into the budget. The video card I suggested is newer than the one you picked out, and virtually the same price. FK |

Two different interface (data transfer) technologies for Hard and Optical drives. SATA is the replacement for 'IDE' (correctly known as PATA).
There's no reason to buy anything other than a SATA hard drive at the moment (and you should be looking at a 'SATA II' drive with 16MB of cache for optimum performance) - they are readily available. Indeed, most newer motherboards only come with one IDE connector as opposed to two that was previously the 'norm'. Optical drives, in contrast, remain mostly IDE - though this is set to change as time progresses! FK |

No, the standard P5B. I linked to it in post #14.
You linked to the P5B Deluxe. It's more expensive as it has 2 PCI-E x16 slots for two ATI video cards running together in Crossfire. FK |

The X1950Pro that both Newbuilder and I have mentioned is not only better than the X1900GT you listed (not a bad card....but), it's cheaper. Look at my earlier link.
