Flashing the BIOS on a New Build
I'm getting ready to build a complete new system and I'm planning on using the either the new ASUS 680i or 650i motherboard.
My question is I've never put a new system together from the ground up and am wondering about the BIOS - flashing the BIOS. I was not planning on putting a floppy drive in my new system and need to know can I use a USB jump drive if the motherboard does not come with the latest BIOS update. I'm sure I'll have other questions but this seems to be the first bump in the road I'm going to have. Any help would be great. This are the parts I'm planning on ordering. Any suggestions are welcomed. Thanks. Case: LIAN LI PC-V2100A Motherboard: Either the ASUS 680i (not the striker) or 650i. Still a toss up. GPU: 2x8800GTS Monitor: Dell 24" Widescreen. Should be able to flash the BIOS in Windows with the Asus utility program.

The only time I worry about upgrading the bios on a new build is if the cpu I'm using isn't supported by the installed bios. Otherwise, build it as furnished and only upgrade the bios if it corrects something you may have trouble with.
