It is compatible but you shouldn't use that power supply. I'd go for a 400w Fortron Source power supply. The X550 isn't intended for gaming if you were planning on it. The Pentium 4 is also pretty outdated - how about switching it with a Pentium D?

I'd recommend looking at the Seagate 7200.10 hard drives. They're on a good streak here lately.

ok thanks guys!
so i'll swtich to this cpu http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116001 the mobo seems to have some easy overclocking so i guess that would be good? should i invest in a better ventilated case? and which video card should i use? i won't be playing like intensive games, just something that will be used to play cs source but nothing more intense than that. |

Good processor. Good deal on it too.
Your power supply link is to the processor too--please repost that And yeah, those boards are good for overclocking. Mine (and I'm sure the one you've selected does as well) has an easy recovery if your overclock fails. It tells you it failed, and you hit an F key and it returns to the defaults. Keeps you from having to clear the bios every time you miss an overclock. You might consider a 512MB card instead of a 256 if you're gaming. You can get by with the 256, but it won't really do the job for you. Even in moderate gaming you want seamless video. With 3 80mm fans, that case has more than adequate ventilation. Just toss the PSU or see if you can find the same thing without a PSU. Many of the cases are available both ways. I think you're in pretty good shape so far. Let's have a look at your PSU before you pull the trigger on it, though.

What will you be using this computer for? What are the main uses you plan for it?

well my dad plans on using it to program stuff with, but of couse i wouldnt overclock the computer when he's using it, when he's not using it, ill use it to play games, convert dvds, play around with, not EXTREME gaming, just moderate, and i won't need state of the art things either
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817153023 this is the psu would 430 suffice? adding into consideration for overclocking? and another quesiton, if i DO overclock it, would i need some extra cooling stuff? and just to confrim, does overclocking take away from the lifetime of the chip? how much hhaha wow so many questions thanks a bunch guys |

Video card?
Your current choices look great. As for airflow, shouldn't be a huge problem. |

The X800GTO is a great choice.
The CPU will work with that board, no problem.

lol one more question
i'm kinda leaning towards one of these cases http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811147020 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811156069 but since i'm switching the power supply for either of them, there shouldntbe an issue right? (24 pin) |

would this video card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814131016
be a better pick than http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814131016 because of the rebate+performance? |

I see the two same links. If you are comparing the 7300LE and the X800GTO2, then the X800GTO2 is much better. Have you considered an X1600Pro or similar? This is also an awesome deal:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814143049.
