$650 is hard to build a decent gaming machine with. I'd set an $800-1,000 minimum for yourself if you can - just so you get a good system without cutting corners.

Yes, the DVD burner will install anything on CDRom or DVD.

Your motherboard is a Socket 939. The processor is an AM2. The socket types need to match. (Go with AM2) You'll need an operating system too.

Other than that, those aren't bad choices. This won't be a screaming gamer, but it should get you by. If you can spare a few more dollars, you might try to beef up the video card a little.

If you go with the AM2 socket, make sure to switch to DDR2-800 RAM. The Asus M2N-E is a popular motherboard. Check the Asus website for which ram modules to buy. Look for the "QVL" (Qualified Vendor List) and buy from the list. AM2 is picky about ram, so stick with the list.

I'd also switch to an eVGA branded video card. They have the best reputation for customer service and quality.

Looks alright but if you can afford an AM2 build it would give you future proof. I'd suggest the M2N-E, a 3800+ X2 65w, and some Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800.

You really have to take this in to account when buying the M2N-E board it will only support ram voltages up to 1.95 v, and alot of ram DDR 800 likes to run at 2.2 v just a quick mention, i use corsair value select with my M2N-E that ram runs at 667 mhz and only uses 1.8 v, if you get the motherboard just take all these things into to account it really isnt the most ideal board and i know alot of people on anandtech have had problems ranging from the RAM and BIOS issues, but if you get ram that requires low voltage and update to the latest BIOS you will be fine and if you think about doing any overclocking on it you will need the latest bios.

Like Pixel said I would also recommend either the Corsair ValueSelect or Corsair XMS2 (5-5-5-15 timings only).
