New build has a few problems
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i just finished building my pc a few days ago. everything went rather smoothly until now. im having a few strange issues with the new machine. 1. lan connection randomly releases IP and cannot renew until reboot - this one is real odd. sometimes while im doing things on the internet, the connection just stops working flat out, drops the IP and will not reconnect or renew the IP adress until the system is rebooted. this includes access to the router and modem it is directly connected to. i figured it may be the Network adapter or that i need a drivers update. but i cant seem to find the drivers i need. (Nvidia nforce networking controller) 2. when the machine encounters certain problems, the system locks up. - ive encountered points in which there is a small problem (like little to no connectivity on internet while trying to install router or a program installed 1/2 way and was cut off) and instead of just having the internet or that program not work, the system will lock up if i even click the start menu. i then fix the problem in safe mode, and go back and its fiine. but if i dont fix my internet my computer locks up? thats not right. 3. random failed boots. - almost completely randomly my system wont boot. i turn it on and it sticks on the ABIT logo and doesnt progress until restarted. id say its roughly a 30% chance of this happening. a reboot solves it, but sometimes it needs to be restarted up to 3 times before it will go. system: AMD Athlon 64 3800+ 1GB Corsair DDR2 800 pc7200 RAM 160Gb western digital HD Ati Radeon X800 Graphics card ABIT KN9 Ultra Motherboard (built in LAN and audio) Nvidia nforce network controller and realtek ac97 8 channel audio |

Are all of your drivers up to date and have you tested your memory for errors?

What brand and power supply are you using? What's the wattage and is it a ATX 2.0?
Is the LAN on-board or a separate card? Do you have another NIC you can install to troubleshoot with? Cricket

Ok, LAN problem seems to be fixed with a driver update. it was kinda hard to find but i got a newer one and it hasnt dropped connection yet.
as for the rest of my drivers i have what came on the CD ABIT gave me. id update them, but the windows updater never works and i wouldnt know what to look for since there seems to be like 20 drivers for the MB. my power supply is a Xclio http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16817189003 Last edited by McSquid; 12-27-2006 at 02:33 AM. |
