A Little Help woth Compatibility?
Hello All Hope you are enjoying the holidays! Well I have just started to build my own pc, and this will be my first. The main problem I am having thus far is choosing the various parts. I would just appreciate it if someone could look at the specs. and make sure that the parts fit:
Processors: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ Windsor 2.6GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processor http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103759 Motherboards: ABIT KN9 ULTRA Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 Ultra MCP ATX AMD Motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...P=OTC-d3alt1me Memory: Kingston ValueRAM 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820134117 I will mainly be using this PC for internet browsing and gaming. A few other questions I have are: How do you know if your memory is compatible with your motherboard board? Does it matter which graphic/sound card you buy, when it comes to compatibility? Try to put it in lamens terms please. lol. Thanks for the help! |

Follow the link on Newegg's site to the manufacturer's web page. On the right side, you'll see a compatability test, which will show all of the RAM that's been tested with the board.
The video card just needs to fit the slot (PCI Express x 16). Once you've selected that, you'll need to find a power supply that's suitable for the video card.
