Some one help me please?

1. When choosing parts what comes first the processor or the motherboard?
2. Can anyone recommend good processors and motherboards for a pc that will be used primarily for gaming?

Thanks for any response. This is the first time I am building a Pc and I don't really know where to start.

First off, welcome to PCMech, we are all here to help you.

What kind of budget are you on for this build? Do you have any kind of preference whether its AMD/Intel or Nvidia/ATI?

At the current moment, I would suggest an Asus P5B motherboard coupled with an Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 processor, and then build the rest around that. However once again we really need to know your budget to help you choose what parts you can use.

Also I would recommend reading this aricle, to help you get an idea of what is needed and how to put together your system.

I don't have any real budget per say, but I would like to spend less than 1,000 on the whole computer. I have a dell, which I could probably salvage a few parts from. I think I am going to go with this processor: AMD Athlon 64 FX-57 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16819103558). I read some really great reviews on it and it is about $300. If anyone has any input on it please let me know. I am in the process right now of picking a motherboard out, and will hopfully pick one out by today.

FWIW, for that same 300ish dollars, you can get a C2D E6600, which easily tops the FX-57 in most (all?) respects.
