Something to consider when

Something to consider when using an after market CPU cooler that has a side blowing fan. You could run into the chipset running very hot(if no fan on heatsink) because of the probable fact that the standard down blowing CPU heatsink fan is providing the airflow to remove the heat on the chipset heatsink.
Found this out on a new folding system with the chipset heatsink next to the CPU and using an Artic Cooler 7 HSU. The chipset heatsink got too hot to touch until I did a ghetto mod suspending a fan using zip ties to get airflow on the heatsink.

Good tip, flanzig1. That's also a problem when water cooling.

Yup..however people who buy such tower heatsinks for overclocking usually have fans everywhere and planned out...with aftermarket chipset coolers too maybe..

Passive heatsinks on the chipset especially do count on air from the cpu...

I usually just place a quiet 120mm fan at half speed pointed at the chipset.

The CPU was an OEM, so needed a HSU and PR said he had good luck with his AC Pro 7 and they are at a decent price. No OC on this Folding box.

I've used old 486 heatsink fans on passive chipset heatsinks. Most of those were 40mm as I remember and can usually be screwed into the heatsink with the right sheet metal screws.
