That's a decent budget system. The C2D will do very well in video rendering/modelling. He certainly can't complain for the price. For gaming, the biggest limitation is ram (2Gb preferred for a gaming rig) and the vid card (good, but not top end). The score is solid for the system. As a comparison, same benchmark, my sig rig scores around 20,100 with a CPU score of just under 1,400, but I would expect that as this was built to be a gamer. JMO.

'ight cool. i just wanted some reassurance is all. this will not be playing any games at all, i've always known about 3D Mark so that's what i did just to run a test. i wanted the 2GB, but he didn't want to spend the extra, not right now anyways.

lemme ask ya, is there a "general PC" performance rating program out there? or even a video editing performance rating program? maybe i can get a better idea of what the computer was originally intended for. :-)

3DMark tends to provide testing and comparison numbers for graphics more than the overall system. PCMark will provide a better system evaluation. You would also get a good comparison idea by running the System evaluation at PCPitstop.com.

I always check my systems at PCPitstop. It's a free and good evaluation that can highlight any issues with the PC.

That's not what was discussed in General Discussion I hope... that was way off, saying GLC's P4 machine owned Alaron's A64 x2 system.

Not sure if I would overclock the computer - unless the client is fully aware of what it means and its risks and is ok with that.

on stock cooling that baby ran at a sustained 40 deg C on while rendering a 30 minute HD video in Premiere Pro (and it was 2.0 btw, not 1.5) which is surely a full load. i don't think it's gonna be a problem. the new Core2's are just that good.

thanks for the PCPitstop tip, ima try it out and see wuts up later.
