Reusing Harddrive with new motherboard

Hi,
I'm building a new computer with an asus mb. I want to reuse the harddrive that was in an HP computer. What I'm wondering is, when I go to boot up the system, will it boot fine or will there be issue with the old harddrive in a new motherboard? If there would be problems, what should I do? I'd rather not reformat so I don't lose files.
Thanks a lot,
Dusty

You will need to buy a new copy of XP and do a repair reinstall. Procedures are in the Tips and Tricks forum.
