Need Help on Rebuild
Years ago my Gateway Performance 1000 crashed and I have since updated and built my own computer. Now I'm rebuilding this computer simply for internet use using parts from the old Gateway. The problem is the case wires. They are not labeled and I'm having trouble. I've got a blue and white wires twisted together and it appears to be the power button. The other wires (green, black, and orange) appear to go to the lighton the front of the computer. I hooked the wires by guessing and somehow I got power to the board but the power button will not turn off the computer. I'm looking for some advice to figure out correctly the wires. Can anyone help??
Thanks! |

Is your motherboard clearly marked as to which wires go where? If so, I'd consider buying a new cheap generic case and transferring everything over.
If it is the Gateway case and Gateway motherboard, it *should* have a unitized connector. |
