Any particular reason you are going with a 975X board instead of a P965? Corsair is an alternate ram, and Seagate is an alternate hard drive.

You might also wish to consider a larger case. Whilst the Tsunami is not small, the 8800GTX is a VERY long card. A friend of mine recentlly installed a 7900GTO - which is a good few centimeters shorter than the 8800GTX - into his Tsunami case, and it only *just* fitted, protruding slightly into his hard drive bays and making two of them unusable. You should consider a full tower case.

I'd suggest eVGA's version of that video card.

We usually recommend the Asus P5B.

what the difference between the eVGA version and leadteks version of that card? and what would be a decent case with good cooling that would fit the 8800gtx?

eVGA have proved to be the best quality manufacturer of Nvidia's cards, which is why we recommend the brand over others.

Any decent full tower case should fit the 8800 series - it very much depends on what brands you can get hold of in Aus. The Antec 900 gaming case is quite popular at the moment.

i'm looking at the Coolmaster stacker 830 and it quite hard to locate a large selection of manufactures of video cards and i can choose between Palit, leadtek or Asus, as well the P5B comes in many series, like deluxe with or without wifi and the P5B-E 1394 besides just a P5B. which should i be looking at?

If you are building a gaming rig, it would probably be a good idea to get DDR2 800 instead of 667. Corsair's XMS series is recommended often in these forums.

Whatever P5B that has the features you need. Of those 3 brands I think I'd go with Asus on the video card.

DDR2-667 is fine if you don't plan on overclocking.

the reason for going with the 667 series over 800 is the $125 (AUD) difference price in the per kit, but how much will it affect performance or will it be unnoticeable unless i overclock it?

I think he's saying that your RAM could end up being the source of a bottleneck if you decide to keep it at 667. Thats the kind I use and it does fine, however my gaming habits are curbed by work mostly so I don't require bleeding-edge performance.

667 is fine for stock speeds and mild overclocks. It's good to 1333 FSB at 1:1.

So then I'd need 800MHz RAM to realize the 2000FSB potential? Bummer....

Absolutely. You would have to use a pretty big divider. Even 800 ram needs a divider to run at 2000 FSB. 1600 FSB would be 1:1.

OK, so part of that made sense to me...the rest was greek, so I went and read up on RAM, and I am still lost. I am assuming that in order to get the most out of your RAM, there is some optimization that needs to occur...so what can I do to optimize, I guess?

That would be a topic all by itself rather than continuing to hijack this guy's thread.
